Terms and Conditions
Terms of Use
1. User shall have the right to use the Thomson Reuters web services applications programming interface (“API”) to access the Web of Science® product(s)* to which the user’s institution currently subscribes, solely for the purpose of extracting and posting certain bibliographic data fields (“Data”) in a publicly available or internal institutional repository (“IR”) during the term of user’s institution’s subscription to the relevant Web of Science product, or so long as the institution has licensed the data for use after the end of a subscription. Note that the IR may only include Data regarding materials authored by user’s institution’s faculty, students or affiliated researchers and may not include the following types of information:
- article abstracts,
- cited references, and
- author contact information
2. User agrees to make clear attribution to the Web of Science as the source of the Data anywhere that user displays Data or information based on any of the Data, and to include a hyperlink to the Web of Science in each record in the IR which includes any of the Data.
3. User may not make any other use of the API or the Data, including (but not limited to):
- sublicensing, selling or assigning rights to the Data;
- commercially distributing the Data;
- providing third parties with access to the API;
- providing services for a fee using the Data or any subsets or derivatives thereof.
* “Web of Science products” currently include the following products: Science Citation Index Expanded®, Social Sciences Citation Index®, Arts & Humanities Citation Index®, Current Chemical Reactions®, Index Chemicus®, and each Conference Proceedings Citation Index®. As this list may change, Client can contact its Thomson Reuters sales representative for an up to date list.
