KnowledgeLink: New librarian resource center
Thomson Scientific
November 2005
As part of our ongoing commitment to the library community, Thomson Scientific now has a full-featured librarian resource center, KnowledgeLinkSM. This resource center is a gateway to many helpful resources for librarians, as well as a way to keep up-to-date with industry news and participate in forum discussions about items of interest to information professionals.
Helping librarians manage usage and promote awareness of available resources
At KnowledgeLink, information professionals can download ISI Web of KnowledgeSM product materials such as journal lists, posters, fact sheets, quick reference cards and tip sheets, as well as product logos and graphics. The site provides quick links to Thomson Scientific training resources and helpful tips on how to plan a training day.
ISI Web of Knowledge subscribers can easily access COUNTER-compliant institutional usage reporting data that helps them keep track of:
- how often resources are being used
- where they are being used
- who is accessing which product, and even
- which product features are most heavily used, or under-utilized.
Librarians are also able to link to the latest full-text linking information, which includes what links are available.
Keeping up with the latest news
KnowledgeLink will regularly post ISI Web of Knowledge product notices and updates, and information professionals can sign up to receive e-mail alerts about these product updates.
A discussion forum will encourage communication with colleagues about issues that affect their careers and their institution’s access to research information.
The site includes links to conferences and events Thomson Scientific will be attending this year. Links to other industry news – including pertinent articles, blogs, and RSS news feeds – will also be regularly updated to keep information professionals aware of important industry events, as well as the latest highly cited researchers, institutions, and countries.
