Asia Pacific research institutions lead the way with Century of Science

As the rest of the world studies closely the rise in Asia Pacific innovation, leading research institutions in China, Japan and India are planning their future research by drawing on the comprehensive backfile and cited reference data in Century of Science™.

Web of Science® , available via ISI Web of KnowledgeSM, provides access to the world's leading citation databases, with multidisciplinary coverage from nearly 9,300 of the highest impact research journals in the world, and extensive backfiles to 1945. Century of Science expands this coverage to include the most important scientific bibliographic and cited reference data from 1900 to 1944: consisting of approximately 850,000 articles from more than 200 journals.

Peking University: leading the way in China
Peking University became the first academic institution in China to purchase Century of Science in January 2008; it was also one of the first Chinese institutions to subscribe to Web of Science in 1999. The University has 216 research institutes and research centers, two national engineering research centers, 81 national disciplines, and 12 national laboratories. While laying stress on basic sciences, the university also pays special attention to the development of applied sciences.

Meiji University: improving research output in Japan
Earlier this year, Meiji University became Japan's first private university to give its researchers access to Century of Science. Meiji University is the fourth academic institution in Japan to acquire Century of Science. Access to this knowledge platform sets the university apart from other mid-sized private institutions and increases the research competitiveness of the students and faculty.

Bose Institute: driving research in India
The Bose Institute has just become the first research institute in India to purchase Century of Science. The Institute is a multi-disciplinary research organization with a stress on fundamental research in science and technology, and on developing scientific manpower for India.
