A: The following web browsers are supported with Endnote Web:

Q: Can I transfer records between EndNote Web and my EndNote desktop software?
A: Which version of EndNote desktop are you using?
To transfer records between EndNote X1 and EndNote Web:
1. In EndNote desktop select Tools / EndNote Web...
2. Enter the URL of your EndNote Web subscription (typically this should be http://www.myendnoteweb.com), your email address and password. Then click Next.
3. When the Transfer References dialog window appears, select the Desktop library and the EndNote Web folder. Here you can also select the direction – from Desktop to Web or from Web to Desktop, whether or not to allow duplicates, and to transfer all references in the library or just showing references.
4. Click the Transfer button to initiate the transfer.
To transfer records between EndNote X.0.2 and EndNote Web:
1. In EndNote desktop select Tools / Transfer References...
2. Enter the URL of your EndNote Web subscription (typically this should be http://www.myendnoteweb.com), your email address and password. Then click Next.
3. When the Transfer References dialog window appears, select the Desktop library and the EndNote Web folder. Here you can also select the direction – from Desktop to Web or from Web to Desktop, whether or not to allow duplicates, and to transfer all references in the library or just showing references.
4. Click the Transfer button to initiate the transfer.
If you are using EndNote 9.0 or earlier, you can transfer records manually by exporting and importing. Here are the instructions:
1. In EndNote, click on the style selection dropdown menu from the main EndNote toolbar.
2. Click "Select Another Style".
3. Browse to RefMan (RIS) Export and click "Choose".
4. Click on the File menu and select "Export".
5. Pick a name and location for the text file and click "Save".
6. In EndNote Web, select the "Import" menu on the left.
7. In the Import window, select the text file in field 1 by clicking on the Browse button.
8. In the dropdown for field 2, choose the Import filter called "RefMan (RIS)".
9. Click the Import button and your references will be imported into the Unfiled folder.
Q: How many records can I save to my Endnote Web library?
A: You can save up to 10,000 records in your Endnote Web library. Records contained in folders that other users share with you don’t count toward your 10,000 record limit.
Q: I located 800 records in Web of Science that I want to transfer to my Endnote Web library? The system is telling me that I can only transfer 500 records.
A: You can only transfer 500 records into your Endnote Web library at one time. After obtaining your search results in Web of Science, type 1 to 500 in the Records Options under Output Records and then select Save to My Endnote Web. After transferring the first 500 records, you can then return to your search results and type 501 to 800 in the same location in order to transfer the rest of your search results to Endnote Web.
Q: How many records can I transfer between EndNote Desktop and Endnote Web at one time?
A: You can transfer up to 500 records at one time.
Q: EndNote Web only displays 10 Online Search Results at one time. How can I view more of my search results?
A: This can be changed on every reference list page. You can view 10, 25 or 50 onlines search results at one time.
Q: I filed half of my online search results in a new folder and then opened that new folder. When I went back to the main page my online search results were no longer there. What happened to them?
A: You must copy your online search results to a folder, even the Unfiled Folder, in order to retain them. If you leave the search results screen and you haven’t filed the search results, the search results will be gone.

A: Every time you log in to http://www.myendnoteweb.com from an authorized IP address you receive a token good for one year. This enables you to log in from any IP address for one year. You can access and Login from a computer with an authorized IP address, which will to reset your remote access for another year.

A: Please use the ‘Forgot your password’ link underneath the login section. The password will be sent to the email address that you used to register with Endnote Web.

A: Your institution provides access to third-party databases. It is best to contact your reference librarian to find out which databases you are authorized to access.

Q: Why has the EndNote Web citation that I inserted into Word already formatted?
A: When an EndNote Web citation is inserted into a Word document, it will automatically use the currently selected output style.
Q: How can I hide the citation field codes in my Word document?
A: Field codes can be hidden in Word by going to Tools > Options. Click on the View Tab and uncheck the box named Field Codes. This is a universal setting and will apply to all of your Word documents.
Q: How can I repair damaged EndNote Web field codes in my Word document?
A: First, save a backup copy of your Word document. Damaged field codes can be repaired by unformatting, removing stray field codes, and reformatting the document. To do so, follow these instructions:
1. Choose the "Tools > EndNote Web > Unformat Citations" command, which will remove the reference list and revert the citations.
2. Press [Ctrl]+A on the keyboard to highlight everything.
3. Press [Ctrl]+6 (above the "T" and "Y" key) to remove any additional hidden field codes.
4. Press [Ctrl]+C to copy the highlighted text.
5. Open a new document and press [Ctrl]+V to paste.
6. You should now be able to Format Bibliography in order to format your citations and regenerate the field codes.

Q: I can not locate Quick Search or My References
A: The Quick Search and My References now appear on the left hand hide / show toggle panel. Click on the tab that says show to display Quick Search and My References. Alternatively you can click on the Hide tab to maximize the All My References page.
Q: How do I create, share, rename or delete a group?
A: Go to Organize > Manage My Groups. You will see buttons that will allow you to create a new group, rename a group, share a group or delete a group.
Q: How do I view groups that others have shared with me?
A: Go to Organize > Others’ Groups and you will see a list of groups that have been shared with you.
